Walker Consultants designed a new Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS), including an Automated Parking Guidance System (APGS), for Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport.

The airport’s parking facilities total approximately 4,000 spaces across four surface lots and one parking garage. The garage has 851 public parking spaces on the upper two levels, as well as rental car operations on the ground floor. The existing PARCS equipment (serving 35 lanes) was nearing the ends of its useful life.

Walker assisted in designing, procuring, and implementing a new state-of-the-art PARCS for the four lots and one garage. During negotiations with the selected PARCS provider, the airport requested that the project be expanded to include a single-space APGS for the garage. The APGS consists of ultrasonic sensors with individual LED indicator lights placed above each parking space, interior end-aisle directional LED dynamic signage, exterior directional LED dynamic signage, a mobile app, and a local server.

With the latest PARCS technology, the airport can provide passengers with a more efficient experience and a higher level of customer service.
