Garfield Street Community Center & Parking Structure

408 space 6-level cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete parking structure

The parking structure and two story Community Center were constructed on a site which has a rich history in the City.  The site is on a narrow strip of land known as a barrier island with the Atlantic Ocean on one site and the Intra-coastal Waterway on the opposite side.  Nesting sea turtle and the historic Paddleball Courts had to be protected during construction.  The parking structure is located immediate to the west of the courts.   On the second floor of the garage there is a viewing platform that can be used not only to watch paddleball matches below, but also as an outdoor gallery for the display of art. The façade includes architectural elements designed in harmony with the local architectural themes.  There is a public bus stop and trolley stop in front of the garage.
