Our history with sustainable design is rooted in years of creating high quality, cost-conscious, environmentally sound parking structures that require less maintenance, are more durable, and ultimately use less future materials and resources.

 

Walker’s structural engineers have worked with industry groups such as ACI and ASTM in the use of recycled materials and concrete additives.

 

Our lighting experts have assisted in developing industry standards for light containment by helping to reduce energy by utilizing photocells.

 

Our in-house building envelope specialists’ experience with ‘green roofs’ and plaza areas can be incorporated into occupied and unoccupied areas of both parking structures and buildings.

 

We have extensive experience in implementing photovoltaic systems into and on top of parking structures to reduce energy consumption. Our overall philosophy is to build durable and environmentally sound parking facilities. By their nature, a parking structure that has an expected service life of 50+ years has reduced the overwhelming demand on the environment.

 

In addition, our designs look beyond the current standards of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) to complement office and retail facilities with parking structures that are easy to maintain, safe, and blend in with their surroundings.

 

Our restoration division, Walker Restoration Consultants (WRC), provides continuous evolution to our designs by always incorporating industry best practices learned from the thousands of parking structures we have restored.
